Broad Beans

Always soak dried beans for 12 hours before cooking them. Cooking time will depend on the age of the bean and the cultivar used.  Because of their long cooking time, only mix in salt and other vegetables when the beans begin to soften.

Broad Bean Savoury:  Soak 500g Broad Beans overnight in water. Bring to boil and simmer until tender.  Drain off excess water. Add 2 cups cream and salt to taste.  Thicken with cornflour over low heat. 

Broad beans are a winter crop and are easy to grow at home.
