Pineapples are high in fibre and are an aid to digestion. They contain average levels of nutrients and are a good source of manganese that is readily absorbed by the body.

Manganese dissolves blood clots and, because it is implicated in bone metabolism, is often recommended for the prevention of osteoporosis and bone fractures in the elderly.
